Essential for more than 24 years, the Healthy Community Fund has served as a cornerstone of Pitkin County's investment in community health, safety and well-being.
Yes on 1A - Renew the Healthy Community Fund
Between 2020 and 2026, the Healthy Community Fund invested more than $25 million in programs and services that strengthen quality of life throughout the region. Today, HCF-supported organizations collectively reach an estimated 55,000 individuals annually from Aspen to Parachute through prevention, intervention, treatment, education, advocacy, and supportive services.
Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations, public health initiatives, senior services, and community-based programs, the Fund supports a coordinated network of services that help residents remain healthy, safe, connected, and self-sufficient.
This November, we need to renew the Healthy Community Fund once again to continue this vital community program.

Healthy Community Fund Facts
The Healthy Community Fund was first passed in 2002 and has been renewed three times- in 2006, 2011, and 2018.
The current fixed amount the Healthy Community Fund is budgeted to collect is $4,224,687 in 2026
The current distribution of the fund:
46% to nonprofit Health and Human Services Agencies
22% for Public Health services
15% to Senior Services
12% to Community nonprofits
up to 5% for management
To date, the program has been funded through a fixed revenue mill. The proposed renewal would change that structure to a mill levy, allowing the fund to grow over time in alignment with property valuations.
This proposal sets a 30-year sunset. Four votes to approve or renew this fund demonstrate broad community support, which informed the decision to extend the funds’ sunset further out than in past renewals.
A BOCC-appointed Citizen Grant Review Committee reviews community nonprofit grant applications submitted during the annual grant cycle and recommends funding amounts to the BOCC.
